Dr. Melody Kelley - Working for YOU in District 2!
I am a lifelong educator, civic leader, and mother of a Sandy Springs public school graduate. I’m running to continue serving District 2 on the Sandy Springs City Council, guided by a vision of a thriving North Sandy Springs community, where policy decisions are reflective of community values.
As a chemistry professor at a leading Atlanta university, I’ve dedicated my career to delivering high-quality STEM education to students from non-traditional backgrounds. I’m deeply proud of the pipeline I’ve built—guiding students who are now practicing physicians, pharmacists, nurses and groundbreaking researchers. My classroom has always been a space of possibility, where talent is nurtured and futures are transformed, and I bring that same commitment to opportunity into public service.
I stand ready to lead a thriving North Sandy Springs.
My call to serve and advocate for families extends well beyond the classroom and into the Sandy Springs community. I’m an alum of Leadership Perimeter’s Class of 2020 and have had the privilege of serving on the boards of impactful local nonprofits like Sandy Springs Education Force and Sandy Springs Together. In 2021, I was honored to be appointed to the Sandy Springs Charter Review Commission by State Senator Josh McLaurin. Through these leadership roles, I’ve built meaningful partnerships with residents, local leaders and organizations—working together to tackle critical issues around housing affordability and education.
And proudly, I’m the parent of a college student, which has given me the opportunity to serve on the PTO boards of Sandy Springs Charter Middle School and North Springs Charter High School, where I was a standing volunteer in their College and Career Center.
If you’re anything like me, you believe in a brighter future for this city we all love — where young families can grow and prosper — one rooted in creativity, compassion and connection. But we can only get there if we work together. I hope you’ll stand with me in this campaign for the future of our community.

I hope you’ll support me in working toward a brighter future for this city we all love — where young families can grow and thrive — one rooted in creativity, compassion and connection. But we can only get there if we work together. I would be honored to have your support to continue working for – and with – you to make Sandy Springs the best place to work, live and raise a family for all who live here!
